AKB48 single to-26 titled "Manatsu no Sounds good!" won first place in the Oricon weekly ranking released on May 29, 2012. The single sold 1.617 million copies in its first week after release. AKB48 achieved the highest sales record in first week sales in the history of the Oricon ranking into use since 1968. Highest sales record previously held by AKB48 through single entitled "Flying Get". The single was released in August 2011 and achieved sales of 1.354 million copies in its first week. With this success, ranking Oricon AKB48 increasingly dominated by occupying the first through the fifth highest sales in its first week.

Ranked third highest sales in its first week is occupied by a single titled "Everyday, Kachusha" which was released on May 25, 2011 and has sold 1.334 million copies. In fourth place is occupied by a single entitled "Kaze wa Fuite iru" which was released on October 26, 2011 and has sold 1.3 million copies. And in fifth place is occupied by a single titled "GIVE ME FIVE!" which was released on February 15, 2012 and has sold 1.287 million copies. Under AKB48 in sixth position occupied by Mr. Children through single titled "Na mo naki uta" which was released on February 5, 1996 and has sold 1.208 million copies.

Additionally, AKB48 also successfully achieved sales of more than 1 million copies respectively for 7 singles final since the 20th single titled "Sakura no Ki ni Naro" which was released in February last year. AKB48's success began to approach the record set by B'z already achieved sales of more than 1 million copies in a row for 13 singles and Mr. Children who have managed to achieve sales of more than 1 million copies in a row for 8 singles.
